Why I Always Have a Second Photographer
Having a second photographer is one of the best ways to ensure your wedding day is captured fully, beautifully, and without compromise. While I’m focused on photographing the two of you, the key moments, and the emotional storytelling happening in front of me. My second photographer is capturing everything happening at the same time from a different perspective. This means more candid moments, more angles, more creativity, and more of your story preserved. From getting ready to the ceremony to the reception, having two photographers allows us to be in two places at once, so nothing meaningful is missed, and your final gallery feels complete, dynamic, and full of life.
What a Second Photographer Does...
A second photographer plays a huge role in making sure your wedding day is captured fully, creatively, and from multiple perspectives. While I’m focused on the main moments happening in front of me, my second photographer is capturing everything happening at the same time, often in places I physically can’t be. Below are some things a second photographer typically captures:
- Alternate angles of key moments - first kiss, first looks, etc.
- Candid moments during portraits
- Guest reactions
- Getting‑ready coverage
- Extra ceremony and reception details
- More dance‑floor candids
Together, we’re able to create a gallery that feels fuller, more dynamic, and rich with moments you might not have even seen happening.
