What to Expect...
Groom portraits are relaxed, easygoing, and designed to bring out your natural confidence. I’ll guide you through simple, natural poses so nothing feels stiff or awkward, and the whole experience stays calm and enjoyable.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Relaxed, guided posing that feels natural and true to you
- A calm, easygoing atmosphere - groom portraits are quick, fun, and full of personality
- Attention to detail, including boutonniere placement, tie straightening, and jacket adjustments
- A mix of candid and classic portraits for a well‑rounded gallery
- Time built into the timeline so portraits never feel rushed
- Photos with your guys - genuine, relaxed group shots that capture your dynamic
What should I wear?
For groom portraits, I always require that you and your groomsmen are fully dressed in your dress pants and shirts before I arrive. (You’d be surprised how many weddings I’ve walked into where someone is still missing pants.) From there, we’ll document the finishing touches - putting on ties, cufflinks, vests, jackets, watches, shoes, and all the details that complete the look.
This keeps everything running smoothly and ensures we capture those polished getting‑ready moments without any delays.
Posing Tips
Small movements make a big difference in how natural and confident your photos look. Keeping your hands and arms active helps avoid stiffness and adds personality to your portraits. Here are a few easy places to move your hands during poses:
- Hands in pockets
- Adjusting your jacket collar
- Fixing your watch
- Straightening cufflinks
- Holding a glass
- Clasping your hands together
These subtle movements keep your portraits relaxed, natural, and effortlessly cool.
Props
Props help groom portraits feel natural and personal. They give the groom something to interact with, which eases stiffness and creates more genuine expressions. Even simple items add variety, highlight personality, and make the photos feel more like him - not just a standard pose.
- Drinks - especially fun with groomsmen to do a cheers or some standard portraits
- Chair
- Card Games
- Watch
- Books
- Gifts
- Ties
Let’s capture the anticipation, the style, and the heart behind your day. Reach out and let’s start planning your day.
