Details I Document on Your Wedding Day
Your wedding day is made up of hundreds of tiny moments and meaningful pieces which could be your handwritten vows, your grandmother’s necklace, the perfume you saved for this day. These details deserve to be remembered just as much as the big moments. I document them with intention so your gallery feels complete, personal, and deeply you.
What is a flat lay?
A flat lay is a styled photo of all your wedding details arranged together. Your rings, an invitation, jewelry, perfume, and other meaningful pieces. To keep things smooth, the morning of, I recommend placing everything in one box so I can start photographing as soon as I arrive! Including your engagement ring.
Common flat lay styles include bride details, groom details, a combined set, and a more organic “messy” version.
Here are great items to include!
- Invitations
- Rings
- Jewelry
- Perfume or cologne
- Ribbons or fabrics
- Shoes
- Veil
- Stamps or wax seals
- Dried fruit or small accents
- Extra flowers (ask your florist for a few loose blooms)
- Printed photos or polaroids
- Religious or cultural items
- Watches
- Ties or bowties
Flat lays are a simple way to capture the small details that tell the story of your day!

During the getting‑ready portion of the day, I focus on all the small, meaningful moments, both the details and the emotions. I’ll photograph your wedding scent (the bottle and a candid moment of you applying it), your florals, your jewelry, your shoes, and the process of putting everything on.

- The full ceremony space
- Florals and décor

Candid Detail Moments
Some of the most meaningful photos from your day come from the unplanned, in‑between moments. Throughout the celebration, I’ll be watching for the small interactions and genuine emotions that help tell the full story of your wedding, those little details you can’t stage but always want to remember.
Here are a few of the candid moments I love to capture:
- Hands holding
- Tears, laughter, and reactions
- Champagne pours
- Sweet interactions between family and friends
- Quiet in‑between moments
Tips
Here are a few simple ways to make sure your detail photos turn out beautiful and stress‑free:
- Try to schedule the floral drop‑off at least 30 minutes before guests arrive, the earlier the better! This gives me time to photograph your bouquets, boutonnieres, and ceremony florals before anyone sets things down in the space.
- Ask for a few loose flowers or greenery pieces from your florist to elevate flat lays and detail shots without pulling from your bouquet.
- Keeping everything together (rings, jewelry, perfume, invitations, etc.) helps me start photographing right away without interrupting your morning.
- Take tags off dresses, fasten your heels, and unwrap jewelry, so everything is ready to be styled and photographed.
- A quick clean‑up during getting‑ready photos - moving bags, water bottles, and clutter into one corner - will keep your space looking polished and help the photos stay focused on you rather than the background.
These small steps make a big difference in how clean, cohesive, and beautiful your detail photos will look!
